There was a time, and a pretty good stretch of time at that, when I started a painting in one corner and when I gat to the opposite corner I was done. It was the nature of the process. Not so these days. A good 90% of what goes on is painted over and lost. Sometimes ghosts remain. Sometimes I look back and kick myself………
